Management of Marine Resources Environmental in East Timor
"Between Simplified and Traditional Technology Modern Technology"
Timor Leste was awarded the vast sea with a variety of fish resources in
it. The
potential of the fishery resources spread across the Timor Sea. Other
natural resources contained in the Timor Sea are there are different types of
mineral materials, namely oil and gas. The
entire marine potentials need to be managed and developed in the interest of
national development in an optimal and sustainable. Marine
resource management is done using a simple technology or modern technology is
environmentally friendly. Currently, ocean conditions and marine resources in
East Timor are increasingly deteriorating.
Fishing
practices are illegal and damaging increasingly unmanageable. Thousands
of ships of foreign fishing with fishing gear are not environmentally friendly
to operate in areas which should be limited only to the interests of local and
traditional fishermen. The
rise of illegal activities with poor technology has resulted in damage to the
habitat of marine life of this country. During
this time, the technology applied Timor Leste is the cheapest of the economic
angle, using the natural resources and human resources cost although from the
point of ecology could be worth considering. Simple
traditional technology is more widely used by sailors of the archipelago today
should have been updated in accordance with the times.

Changing
times also affects the changes in the environment and ecology. So,
also required a change in the use of technology management of marine resources
by using more modern technology but environmentally friendly. In general,
environmentally friendly technology is a technology-saving environmental resources
(including raw materials, material, energy and space), and because it was also
a little put waste (either solid, liquid, gas, noise and radiation) and lower
the risk of a catastrophe.
In
the sea can be developed modern ships are more environmentally friendly, namely
the use of machinery and mechanical screen at the same time. These
screens can be developed automatically if the wind direction and speed
profitable. The use
of wind energy can save fuel by 50%. Energy
technology and environmental friendly transport including those currently
covered by the industry most developed countries and therefore most expensive. However,
modern environmentally friendly technologies are indispensable in the
management of marine resources even though the cost is not small.

The
current government is facing a dilemma in the management of marine resources. During
this time, the government does look subordinated management of Marine Resources
which until now have not seen optimal. More
drained the government's efforts to manage resources on land and prioritizing
agriculture, trade and industry than marine potentials. In
fact, the marine wealth owned by Timor and potentially serious, and if it
is managed foreign exchange is expected to contribute greatly to East Timor. Is
not the time to think about the economic value of the use of technology for the
sea. It's
time to put quality and quality in the management of marine resources more
provide many benefits for the country and create a healthy ocean for its own
nature.
